What supplies will I need?
You will need a three-holed spiral, stored in your binder, a pencil, and your Chromebook every day.
What should I do with my textbook?
The literature book you are issued at the beginning of the year should be at home all year. Keep it at home to use for homework. In class, you will use Ms. Nail's class set.
How is my grade averaged?
Assignments are 80% and Integrated Projects are 20%. Sometimes an assignment we work on for a number of days will count twice.
Check your grade often. Every student can access their grades on the Parent Portal. If you see an error or a problem, please let me know right away.
What do I do if I need help with class?
Be proactive and ask questions during class. If a question comes to mind after class, or you didn’t have time to ask, please feel free to e-mail me questions, too, at [email protected].
Will we use the computer?
Chromebooks allow you to send your work to google drive, so you can go home and work on your document, then retrieve it at school the next day. Every student is expected to use ONLY their NEISD assigned google drive account to save writing assignments. If use of the internet at home is a problem, you must talk to me about an alternative.
There may be times when technology fails. That is NEVER an excuse to not complete an assignment. Paper and pencil will get the job done.
What should I do if I am absent?
Use my TeacherWeb page to see what we did in class. Look at the daily calendar for a description of the activity. Look at the documents section for handouts we used in class. This will help you get the assignment and not fall behind. It is your responsibility to get missed assignments when absent.
Can I turn in work late?
Please read your Student Handbook for the late-work policy in detail. Basically, you can turn in daily work late for points off before the assessment over that assignment or before the three week progress report period. After that, the grade cannot be made up. Writing assignments are assessments (like tests), and cannot be turned in late.
